Cross and Resurrection

The heart of the Gospel—Jesus’ sacrifice, victory over sin and death, and the hope He gives.

The Gospel at the center

Jesus Christ died for our sins, was buried, and was raised on the third day. The cross shows God’s love and justice; the resurrection declares that sin and death do not have the final word. This is the heart of the Gospel, and it is the hope you are invited to trust.

  • The cross accomplishes forgiveness by Jesus giving His life for sinners.
  • The resurrection confirms Jesus’ victory over sin, death, and the grave.
  • God’s justice is satisfied, and God’s mercy is offered through Christ.
  • You respond by believing, repenting, and receiving grace.

A two-part story

The Gospel is not only about Jesus’ death or only about His resurrection. It is one story with two inseparable parts, and both are needed to understand why the good news is so good.

The cross

At the cross, Jesus suffered in our place. 1 Corinthians 15:3–4 summarizes the message: Christ died for our sins, was buried, and was raised on the third day. His death is substitutionary and forgiving, because He bears what sin deserves and opens the way to reconciliation with God.

The cross also reveals God’s justice and mercy together. Sin is not ignored, and forgiveness is not withheld. God deals with evil honestly while providing the salvation we cannot earn.

The resurrection

The resurrection is God’s vindication of Jesus and the announcement that new life has begun. Romans 6:4–5 connects resurrection to the believer’s life: just as Christ was raised from the dead, those who belong to Him are called to walk in newness of life.

Because Jesus is alive, hope is living rather than uncertain. The resurrection means victory over death, a new identity for those who trust Him, and a future shaped by God’s promise rather than fear.

How to respond

Believe Jesus’ work

Trust that Jesus’ death and resurrection are enough to save you. Faith rests on what Christ has done, not on what you can prove or earn.

Turn and receive grace

Repent by turning from sin and turning to Christ. Receive forgiveness as a gift, and stop trying to make yourself right with God by effort alone.

Follow Him daily

Walk in new life by obeying Jesus, returning to Him when you fail, and letting His resurrection shape your choices, habits, and hope.

Share hope with others

Tell others what Jesus has done. The same Gospel that saves you also gives you a message of hope to pass on.
